THE MAGIC OF AUTUMN

The wonderful autumn colors of Val Varrone are an unmissable appointment for photographers. The magic of the foliage of the trees enchants thanks to an infinite chromatic variety that changes from day to day. And just the short duration of this beauty is to be preserved in a precious and unrepeatable shot: nature always leave you breathless!

The trek develops in a day along the Varrone stream starting from the village of Premana and gradually rising surrounded by larch, beech and fir woods, gently illuminated by the morning sun, until we arrive in the meadows that lead to Bocchetta di Trona with views of the Val Gerola and the Valtellina Alps.

The Bocchetta was the crossing point of the Via del Bitto that connected the Valtellina and the Lario valleys, but also a strategic point during invasions and wars so much that, just upstream of the Bocchetta stands a military fort built in 1917, l the only one still existing of the fortifications of the Cadorna Line.

From here you can reach the Lago dell'Inferno with the majestic scenery of the peaks that surround them and which are reflected in its waters. Packed lunch.

The return is planned for the same street, but this time to be illuminated is the southern slope of the valley.

Being a fairly long trek in which you make several photo stops, you need to leave early in the morning, also to catch in their splendor the tops of the trees in warm and intense colors touched by the rays of the sun.

Meeting point: in the village of Premana at the parking lot at the end of the village at 7.00 am.

The program may undergo changes in the route in relation to weather conditions and requests from participants.

• landscape reportage: observing nature and communicating one's gaze on the world through photography
• the search for one's own personal style: images as an expression of one's Self
• the composition: choice of framing, the rules and how to break them, the close-up and the balance of the image
• the tripod: how to use it in the best way
• the choice of lens: depth of field, shooting angle and creative use
• the camera settings: ISO values, shutter and aperture, white balance, focus, advantages of shooting in Raw and in manual mode
• the light: adjust the exposure to obtain the maximum dynamic range
• the use of filters: the polarizer, the Neutral Density (ND) and Gradual Neutral Density (GND) filters and how to use them in long exposures
• multiple exposures, panoramas and the HDOFR (High Depth Of Field Range) technique

During the photo trekking the participants are also invited, if they wish, to a constructive exchange of experiences and ideas.

BEFORE THE PHOTO TREKKING

• the conception and planning of the photographic trek in every detail, which include: knowledge of the area, the use of applications to find the days with the best light conditions, monitoring of weather conditions, the preparation of maps and cards
• the inspections necessary to choose the points from which to photograph the landscape and verify the data provided by the applications, check the practicability of the paths and guarantee the carrying out of the photographic trekking safely
• the sending by e-mail of all the useful information relating to the photo trekking and my willingness to answer any of your doubts or requests regarding the organization and photographic and excursion equipment

DURING THE PHOTO TREKKING

• the service of conducting along the photo trekking route (I am a qualified trekking instructor, id number 2799559 )
• training activities in landscape and nature photography techniques, and in the expression of a personal style
• education in the photography ethics and in sustainable behavior for the environment
• individual and personalized photographic assistance for the entire duration of the photo trekking
• the compulsory personal insurance policy valid during the photo trekking

AFTER THE PHOTO TREKKING

• one hour of tutoring and consultancy (individual and personalized) online on the post-production of the shots you took during the photo trekking
